Solar pumps
Saving with solar energy

Current high electricity and petroleum costs in the country as choices of power to operate and run an irrigation system is a discouragement to many farmers. The same sources of energy are leading in the production of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions whose effects are experienced through climate-related challenges.
Solar power as an alternative source of renewable energy is becoming more popular to farmers in Kenya with accessories becoming more available at the local market. Submersible (borehole) and surface Pumps operating directly (DC) from an array of solar panels are available in the market with no need for power inverters. They perform very well during daylight and can be coupled to another source of power (generator or grid system) for nighttime and cloudy seasons.
Permanently fixed solar pumps and small portable pumps fitted with one solar panel are available to meet the water demand for both small-scale farmers and the large arrayed solar power pumps for large communities and irrigation fields. Solar pumps are designed depending on the solar intensity (regional), water quantity/ demand, water source.
We carry out assessments on solar power needs, design, supply, and install credible solar-powered pumping systems.
